The Open Bible Academy (OBA) was founded in 1976 as a ministry of The Church of the Open Bible.  The church members had been praying for a Christian school since the mid-1960's under the leadership of Pastor Carlton Helgerson.  Nearly ten years later, their prayers were answered as they followed the Lord's leading in establishing a Day School Committee and opening Open Bible Academy for the first time with around 100 students in grades 1-10.  The first high school graduation was held in 1979 graduating eleven students.  

 

Founded as an ACE school, OBA has gradually transitioned to traditional classroom instruction.  This transition was made complete in 2007 when the entire school moved to the Bob Jones Curriculum.
